When did you start riding ?
5 years ago in 2011. After skateboarding for more then 10 years I decided one day i was having more fun borrowing other people’s scooters than riding my own skateboard. I bought a scooter and life changed more then I could have ever anticipated.
Why do you ride ?
The toughest question to answer. After 5 years of riding everyday and travelling around the world on my scooter I still can’t answer why I do it. I’m addicted, riding is my life. I live for the moments that I get the clip after an hour of trying, hugging my homies and walking away knowing I’m that tiny bit closer to producing my next video part. Riding is a way I say « fuck you » to the system, when we ride we show them there is more to this life then what you see, it’s about perspective, when you change the way you look at things the things you look at change.
What do you enjoy when you ride?
I’ve never been able to go big. Or whip in and out of every rail, so I enjoy trying to be different, in my head I say « what would nobody else do » and then I try to do it. The thing I enjoy most about riding is not the riding itself though. It’s the moments that come with it. After landing the trick, or when your just sitting with your homies having a coffee in the park after an amazing session and talking about life and dreams and everything in between. There is not much to gain in the physical world from scootering so to dedicate your physical life to something that cannot reimburse you, you have to be pretty content with the way things are. So when I ride my scooter I know that I don’t have to, I do it cause I want too, it’s just me spending my limited time on this earth the way that I want too. That’s the best feeling. That’s enjoyable.
Why is it important to ride good wheels and What do you like specifically in Black Pearl Wheels ?
Safety man! You need grip!! For years I’ve been slipping out on shit wheels but because I can never afford to buy the good wheels I never knew what it was like not to worry about slipping. That aspect alone changed my riding so much the moment I got Black Pearls. I never knew how fast I could carve a hill with good grippy wheels. The double layer helps a lot with smoothness, I never really do big drops but just when I’m riding in general it is noticeable. But possibly my favourite bit is the weight and the look, the design is so simple but beautiful and because the core is 7075 aluminium it is stronger then most wheels but incredibly light! Weight is the most important aspect to me because of my size even a lift scooter is hard for me to control but with the lightest wheels out it makes a big difference.
